Lost recordings remastered and issued in album form for the first time. Down The Dog refers to Mad Dog In The Fog, a Haight Street pub where I wrote most of these songs when I was supposed to be working. Some were recorded at The Old Drayage, a co-op in Oakland where Therieau had an ADAT machine set up. We cut basics there, then took them to Wally's to add the other instruments. Other basics- the ones with drums, were cut at Wally's as well. None were ever finished (except the Fred Neil tune), which might give this collection an undefined sound. All have been mastered as well as possible for this release. A guitar was added to Mighty Long Way after 15 years as well.

Me is an acoustic version of the same title that appears on Invisible Juan, a 1997 release that came out only in Germany.

Likewise, Come Back To The Fountain is an acoustic version of the track that appears on Penelope Houston's 2012 release On Market Street.

Red River Valley was well known in the late 19th century despite any copyright claims. Gene Autry sings the best version.

Fire And Gold is a studio version of the song that was collected from a live performance in 1994 in Bonn, Germany for the Famous Butterflies CD ca. 2004.
